Ethics, Bioethics and Biosafety Committee
The Ethics, Bioethics and Biosafety Committee of the Faculty of Engineering of the Universidad de Concepción is a collegiate body created in 2022, according to the guidelines of the decree U. of C. No. 2017-083, and constituted by an interdisciplinary team of academics of the faculty.
Its mission is to facilitate compliance with the procedures and standards of ethics, bioethics and biosafety that allow the development of scientific research projects of the Faculty of Engineering according to these principles and good practices.
Thus, undergraduate and graduate research projects, as well as those developed by academics of our faculty, are subject to review.
The main objective of the ethics committee is to contribute to the review and suggestion of improvement of scientific research projects in which our faculty participates, addressing aspects of biosafety and protection of human subjects, animals and the environment involved in the projects.
According to the decree U. of C. N° 2017-083 it will be primary function of the committee “(…) to inform the Ethics, Bioethics and Biosafety Committee of the Vice Rector’s Office for Research and Development about the analysis by its peers on Ethics, Bioethics and/or Biosafety in the research projects submitted to its consideration”.

Committees
National Advisory Committee
Composed of prominent representatives of the public and private sectors, who, with their experience, knowledge and virtues, advise the authorities and directors of the FI UdeC in making better decisions that have a positive impact on the fulfillment of the goals and objectives, aimed at improving the academic and management indicators of the faculty. The committee is chaired by the Dean, Pablo Catalán, and the members of the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Engineering UdeC who also take part in it.
INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Its mission is to support undergraduate and graduate academic development, advise on accreditation and research policies, and support the international projection of the faculty and its departments.
JOINT COMMITTEE
This unit, formed in November 2016, aims to detect and evaluate the risks of accidents and occupational diseases to which workers may be exposed to. It is made up of representatives of the university and its employees.
