Civil Engineering at UdeC – under the Department of Civil Engineering – provides its students with the necessary skills to generate solutions to numerous problems of society. Thus, through the analysis, planning, design, construction, operation and management of civil infrastructure projects, our engineers provide answers with an economic, social and environmental-sustainable approach, with a global and flexible vision of the different processes and demands of everyday life.

Graduate Profile

The UdeC civil engineer is trained to analyze, plan, design, build, manage and maintain infrastructure works, goods and services for industry and the community, with a vision flexible enough to adapt to changing technological requirements over time, in its economic, social and environmental dimensions.

To ensure that his solution contemplates the most appropriate technological option, the graduate has knowledge in Structural Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulic, Sanitary, Environmental and Water Resources Engineering, Transportation and Road Engineering, Materials, Methods and Planning of Construction Works, Finance and Administration.

Graduates are analytical, systematic, proactive, critical and responsible, with self-learning capacity, skills and competencies that will allow them to analyze situations in the field of civil works, recognize their problems and solve them. In addition, they are able to interact with other professionals, forming and leading work teams, making decisions within an economic, environmental and socially responsible framework.

Career opportunities

The Civil Engineer works in all services and companies engaged in the management, design, construction and operation of infrastructure projects in the urban, agricultural, forestry and industrial sectors, specifically in structural analysis and design, construction, road design and traffic management, water treatment and distribution for the population, sewage treatment and disposal, irrigation water works and hydroelectric generation, and geotechnical problems related to all the above works.
