Faculty of Engineering Advisory Committee

It is composed of prominent representatives of the public and private sectors, who with their experience and knowledge provide guidance in various areas to contribute to the success of the objectives of the FI UdeC. This group is led by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering UdeC, Pablo Catalán.

Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle
President of the Republic of Chile, between 1994 and 2000; and then Senator, from 2000 to 2016. He is a Civil Engineer with a major in Hydraulics, graduated from the Universidad de Chile. He currently chairs the Infrastructure Policy Council, CPI, among other activities.

Rocío Fonseca Chamorro
Biotechnology Engineer graduated from INACAP, with a Master in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Universidad Federico Santa María and a Master in Management from MIT. She has worked in the public and private sector, in 2018 she assumed the Innovation Management of Corfo. She is currently a professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the School of Engineering of the Pontificia Universidad Católica, director of Emprende Tu Mente and member of the Innovation Committee of ME ELECMETAL.

Luis Felipe Gazitúa Achondo
Commercial Engineer from Universidad de Chile. In 2001, he was appointed to the board of directors of the Valparaíso mining company. Later, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Almendral and Vicepresident of Entel. Since 2001 he has led Forestal O’Higgins as general manager and in 2016 he was appointed chairman of the board of CMPC. In 2024 the Chilean Association of Engineers recognized him as “Engineer of the Year”.

Marina Hermosilla Diez
Agricultural Engineer from the Universidad de Chile and analyst certified by the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. She has worked as Sustainability Manager at Walmart-Chile, Environmental Affairs Manager at Polpaico holding and Social Responsibility Manager at Masisa-Chile. She has taught at Universidad Mayor and Universidad de Chile. She is a reference in ESG issues and a member of Chapter Zero Chile.

Hugo Salamanca Poblete
Electrical Civil Engineer graduated from the Universidad de Concepción. After consolidating an outstanding professional career, he founded High Service Corp. in 1999, an innovative company in the field of robotics applied to mining in the national and international market. In 2019 he was highlighted with the “FI UdeC Entrepreneur and Innovator Award”.

Gloria Ledermann Enríquez
Industrial Civil Engineer from Universidad de Concepción and MBA from Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. She completed the Kellogg School of Management course at Northwestern University in the United States and another in Advance Management Program AMP, IE Business School, in Madrid. Ledermann has more than 15 years of experience in Marketing, Commercial Planning, Convenience Business and Investments. She is currently Marketing Manager of Copec S.A. and is also a member of the Marketing Circle of Icare Chile.

Máximo Pacheco Matte
Commercial Engineer, with a Master degree in Business Administration with a major in Economics from the Universidad de Chile. He held prominent positions in the business world, such as the presidency of AFP Provida and Banco de Chile. He was Executive Vice President for Chile and Latin America of Carter Holt Harvey, and Minister of Energy from 2014 to 2016. In 2022, he assumed the presidency of Codelco’s board of directors, consolidating his leadership in the industry.

Alfredo Moreno Charme
Civil Industrial Engineer graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile with a Master in Business Administration from the University of Chicago. He worked as professor at the Administration School from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. In his work career he was director of Banco Chile, Lucchetti and Falabella, as well as Minister of Foreign Affairs (2010-2014), Obras Públicas (2018-2019) and Social Development and Family (2019-2022).

Marina Tannenbaum Embeita
Industrial Civil Engineer from the Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. With a career of more than 25 years in digital transformation, she has worked in companies such as Latam Airlines, Banco Estado, Mallplaza and Falabella Group, she is the founder of Easybots. She is currently a partner at CPartners and leads the Technology group at ICARE.

Pablo Bosch Ostalé
Civil Engineer from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros in Madrid and graduate of the OPM Program at Harvard Business School. He was director and president of ASIMET and Hogar de Cristo Foundation. He is currently General Manager of B.Bosch and President of Círculo Innovación ICARE.
