Biomedical Engineering UdeC – from the Department of Electrical Engineering – integrates knowledge of engineering and medicine, to develop in the field of high-tech medicine. Its study includes diagnostic systems, surgery, physiological assistance devices, treatments and biomedical equipment, which allows training professionals with advanced knowledge in medical equipment, clinical bioengineering and development and medical informatics.

The Biomedical Engineer is a professional capable of integrating engineering and medical knowledge to develop in high technology fields. This includes diagnostic systems, surgery, physiological assistance devices, treatments and biomedical electrical and electronic equipment. The objective of the career is to train a professional with these skills, capable of covering the interdisciplinary fields between Biology, Engineering and Medicine, both in professional practice and research.

The professionals acquire a mathematical knowledge at the necessary level for the management of analysis, design and synthesis tools. They gain an understanding of the physical, chemical and biological principles that guide the systems that they will encounter in their professional life, allowing them to validate results based on these principles.
