Description
Chemical Engineering UdeC – part of the Chemical Engineering Department – contributes, with its professional experience and high level of research, not only to the most important industries of the country and the Biobío Region, but also to the rest of the continent. This professional is fundamentally oriented to process engineering, defined as the transformation of raw materials into finished products, through the use of materials, energy and financial resources.
Graduate Profile
All graduates of the Chemical Engineering program of the Universidad de Concepción have the ability to: identify, formulate and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science and mathematics; apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specific needs considering public health, safety and welfare, and global, cultural, social, environmental and economic factors; communicate effectively with a variety of audiences; recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental and social contexts; function effectively in a team whose members collectively provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, set goals, plan tasks, and accomplish objectives; develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to generate conclusions; acquire and apply new knowledge, as required, through appropriate learning strategies; manage and administer human, material, and financial resources.
Career opportunities
Chemical Engineers are prepared to participate in the generation and design of industrial processes. Their field of work includes companies in the productive sector of process engineering, engineering offices and consulting firms providing services to the chemical, petrochemical, forestry, mining, agro-industrial and other industries, in addition to independent professional performance in related areas.
